Ms. Wynter Sexton

Hello! My name is Wynter Sexton and I am the EC Preschool Support Specialist for Kannapolis City Schools. I have been a teacher with KCS for 15 years. I started at Forest Park and there I taught children with significant cognitive disabilities. In my position at McKnight, I am able to work with preschool children, their families, and staff. I love being a part of Kannapolis City Schools and I look forward to working with each of you as you begin your journey either at Headstart or at one of our NCPreK programs.

I attended Pfeiffer University and graduated in 1999 with a BA in History and a minor in Special Education. Later I completed my licensure for Special Education in 2003 from UNC-C. Most recently, in 2012, I completed my Master's degree in Special Education Adapted Curriculum from UNC-C. I love working with children with special needs and watching them learn and grow in their own time.

My philosophy is that ALL children can learn by exposure, high expectations, repetition, and love. My goal in this new role as a Preschool Specialist is to empower parents, teachers, and others to seek out the resources they need to help educate their children. I want to encourage all to advocate for their children, with or without a disability, so they may be as independent as possible and ready for Kindergarten when the time comes to leave Preschool.

Please contact me if you have questions or concerns about your child's development at wynter.sexton@kcs.k12.nc.us or at 704-932-7433.
